What to bring
When it comes to luggage, soft bags are better than hard cases and the smaller the better. That said, luggage isn’t a problem so don’t skimp to save space. It’s more important that you are comfortable and warm. In can be chilly at night, even in summer, so bring warm clothing and remember to pack comfortable, sturdy, well-fitted shoes. open-toed sandals are not really recommended in Outback areas
If you have any special dietary needs, be sure to let me know Camera, sun glasses, sun screen, insect repellent, personal medication, (in some areas it is hard to locate a Pharmacy or Chemist). Most of all, bring your sense of adventure!
Vehicle
You will travel in a late model Luxury Toyota Land cruiser. It is licensed to carry seven passengers, I only carry a maximum of four passengers to ensure every ones comfort (extra passengers on application). The vehicle is fully equipped to handle any outback conditions with comfort and confidence. I have fitted to the vehicle Flying Doctor radio and UHF radio. A comprehensive first aid kit is carried and we have refrigeration if required. A satellite phone is carried on all remote area tours.
I have not splashed the vehicle with gaudy sign writing nor do I wear the uniform of a bus driver that's escaped the city limits, I believe in sharing a good time with friends when travelling. From my experience, pompous drivers and loud sign written vehicles do not help to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere.
As an owner operator I do the tours myself. I do not subcontract to whatever driver happens to be available at the time. For larger group bookings that require more seats, I do have larger vehicles available or can enlist additional colleagues to drive extra vehicles so we can travel together in a convoy.
Food
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on tour unless specified,. Morning teas are included, in remote areas or where only unsuitable venues exist a picnic ''tail gate lunch'' is prepared. Personal snacks, drinks at dinner etc are the responsibility of the traveler. I know all he best bakeries, cafes and coffee shops in the bush.
Accomodation
Good, clean comfortable accommodation (resort, hotel, ,motel style) is provided. In the more remote areas, you will stay in clean, wholesome outback ‘character' accommodation. When you place your booking, I can give you more specific details as the accommodation opportunities change all the time. On some specific tours you can experience Station life in homestead stay or Stockman’s quarters, a real Outback experience. Alternative accommodation may be necessary if our preferred choice has been booked out (already). Early bookings are encouraged.
Transfers
Although based in Adelaide pick ups and drop offs can easily be organized from most capital cities. Many times I have included after an Outback tour dropping international travelers in Alice Springs, Melbourne or Sydney to continue their travels. Imagine combining a Great Ocean Road trip to Melbourne after a tour of the Flinders Ranges or vice versa, it adds another dimension to your holiday.
Travel insurance
Personal travel insurance is advised. Destinations and routes may be changed due to adverse conditions or to take advantage of changed conditions Delays, extension or reduction of your tour due to adverse weather conditions or Government road closures may be the financial responsibility of the passenger.
